Let’s Talk about Floods! and other Emergencies
September 24 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
After the experiences we have been through, let’s take some time to settle, recover and re-group. We are going to talk to the MVA wardens, the SES and all other agencies engaged with our valley.
We have rolled out 125 radios last week to the most vulnerable members of our community. Your wardens will be showing you how to use these and testing them within your areas.
We are currently trying to get the rest of the funding from Federal Government bought forward so can complete the purchase of radios, base stations and grab bags. Our Federal MP is currently supporting us in our bid to get the funding released earlier.
By September we will have more information and more answers. We will invite Council and key SES representatives to this important public forum where we can discuss the CONNECTED AND PREPARED program.
Join our community check-in and get ready for whatever Spring and Summer may bring
We want to hear from you about how we can continue to ensure our valley is not forgotten when emergencies happen. Let’s talk about;
- What we have done so far
- Survey results and mapping
- Council Planning policies and the Flood Study
- Lessons learnt and feedback
- Environmental Damage
- How to restore and improve St Albans village
- How to build better resilience
This is timed to follow and link with the RFS Get Ready messages as we prepare for summer. We will be inviting all Emergency and Recovery agencies to attend so we can better co-ordinate preparation for and response to emergencies that increasingly affect all of our lives.
Connected and Prepared – How we get through emergencies is our “resilience” – this means using our strengths to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. Connected and Prepared aims to support our valley community to become safer and more resilient.
